Sciences are the product of the innate curiosity of thousand of generations, finding endorsement in the spontaneous curiosity of the children. The modern world and its conquests are products of sciences. 

It fits to the educator to base the ethics of the life for the correct use of sciences and the natural resources. to provide this is to make ENVIROMENT EDUCATION.

METODOLOGY 

The activities will be developed through field lessons, with walks through typical ecosystems of the coast of Espirito Santo State:

- Atlantic Mountain Forest

- Paludosa Forest

- Restinga

- Swamp

- Beach

- Marine Reefs

INTRODUCTION 

The Program NOA’S ARK, is on the run, since 1989, with about 1800 excursions and various interdisciplinary projects, reaching around 1.000 schools of 1º, 2º. e 3º degrees, a amount of 280.000 pupils. Among these pupils, 150,000 had participated of the project doing practical field lessons, being this activity considered of better resulted as sensitization. The majority of the schools are of the Southeastern region: 50% of the region of Great Victory and 50% of other states. 

Traditionally, various Universities are using the area for practical lessons and scientific research since 1970. Between specialized courses of monitoring and technicians training in ambiental education, more than 5000 professors, technicians of city halls and of great public companies, had been attended. We got lots of positive results, with great press support, from the local, national and also specialized nets covered by international professionals. 

During this period we tested various methodologies of ambiental education, being some created by ourselves based in our researches and tests. We developed specific elements to be used as per the situation of the school, community of origin, basic ambient problems of the region, cultural characteristics, age, style of professor and others. On several aspects, this is a pioneering work in Brazil, considering that exist few institutions of specialized research and formation in ENVIROMENTAL EDUCATION. Even in the exterior few centers of similar works exist. 

The reasons of the lack in this area, is in function of the proper novelty of the proposition as a new area of the human knowledge, as well as the methodological and philosophical difficulties of this new education.

The trend that we register in this sector, mainly from the ECO-92, is a truthful expansion and gradual interest from the part of the Universities, professors and communities, in reply to the demand of improvement of the quality of life and requested education by all the social classes. 

The first proposal made in this direction in Brazil, was presented by prof Augusto Ruschi in the end of years 50, not reaching however the endorsement of the official institutions of the time. In other countries the first works had been initiated in middle of the decade of 40, reaching bigger expansion in the decade of 60. 

In Brazil, the debates in this direction only were initiated in the years 70, Strongly motivated by the questionments, scientific and ecological controversies provoked by Prof. Augusto Ruschi. In this same time Prof. Ruschi established the MARINE BIOLOGY STATION with didactic and research objectives, of the marine ecosystems. 

We mainly feel that the difficulties of development of the works are huge, mainly due to the structural basin, with little flexibility and knowledge of cause of the traditional pedagogic system. But these difficulties tend to be resolved of natural manner, after the first steps, as the Environmental Education adds new breathe to the didactics, by using creative techniques that aims towards the wakening of sensibility to nature. 

The informative content must be drawn in way to stimulate more to perception than the intellect in a first instant, as perception preceedes the thinking, in the process of learning, and only by its harmonic development with the intellect is that we carry through our internal integration. The education based on the perception of the ambiental reality is therefore one technique of ambiental psychology, applied the ambient education. The experience of the "ECHO" is the fundamental way to propitiate perception of this essence with conscience cause.


METODOLOGY 


The activities will be developed through field lessons, with walks through typical ecosystems of the coast of Espirito Santo State:

In the field lessons, collections and observations, on the main groups of beings, existing in the visited places, at the same time that stimulation of various possible views of present situations will be made, previledging thefollowing aspects:

- Physical ability 

- Basic Knowledge 

- Sensibility 

- Ambiental conscience 

- Attention 

- Ambiental Characteristics 

- Language 

- Live beings Characteristics 

- Expression 

- Geographical Characteristics 

- Group interrelation 

-Historical and Cultural Characteristics 

- Creativity 

-Social/economical characteristics 

After the field lessons, works of laboratory will be made with collected specimens, mounting at the same time a work of group with creative techniques for final presentation, guided by monitors and script of tasks for work groups.

The magnifying of the ambiental conscience allows an improvement of diagnosis of the real ambiental situation, as well as of itself and its function. After this conscience only is that it is possible to organize the necessary ways for a harmonic and compatible action towards protection of natureza. Liberty of expression, creativity and new information are the ingredients that leads to learning, which is accomplished through gradual elaboration of a creative and pleasant synthesis.

With these dynamics, organization and physical means, we aim towards reaching a level of sensibilization capable to catalyze a process of ambiental perception, and consequent action to the this level of conscience. We noticed during our professional experience the necessity of assisting the student of our universities to translate theoretical knowledge acquired, for questions of practical and existential order. Beyond the academic activities the university extension can contribute in an effective way to formation of the students, approaching them for the ambient reality and didactic extra classroom.

These courses or programs have the objective of filling the space left by the academic activities, searching for an interdisciplinary education, global vision, understanding of the ecosystems, training of abilities and self knowledge, through works and field experiences.

OBJECTIVES


1. GENERAL: 

- To identify the individual, his environment and his function in the ambiental process. - develope harmonically the relation Man X Nature.

- To stimulate a better advantage of the technological processviewing the maintenance of the vital processes of the environment.

- To promote ecology education in various levels satisfying the necessities of the society and its right to the healthy and balanced environment.

- To propitiate experiences that stimulate the development of the perception, leading the individual to adopt an integrated behavior to ambiental reality.


2. ESPECIFICS : 

- To involve the conscient society in the protection and preservation of the natural patrimony.

- To clarify the preservation necessityes for future generations through the protection of the species and reforestation.

- To integrate the student in the preservation process and conservation of the environment.

- To awake the vision of the integration of the mechanisms of interaction of the live beings with its environment.

- To support to the curricular development of the school through an ecological interdisciplinary approach, attending to the following aspects: biology, zoology, botanic, ecology, physiology, mathematics, geography, history, psychology, physics, Portuguese, chemical education and arts.

- To support the creation of the ambiental education with a holistic approach.

- To propitiate an ambiental experience in the way capable of informing didactically about the littoranean ecosystems and its biodiversity characteristics

- To extend and to improve the conditions of assistance to the courses of graduation and post graduation of the universities.

- To develop the training of ambiental educators.

- To offer practices with approach in the methodology of field work.

- To provide experiences that assist the development of the professional profile of the future biologist.
